Description

Under the supervision of the Program Director of The International Institute for the Brain (iBRAIN), with wide latitude for independent judgment and decision-making, the Neuropsychologist will oversee the neuropsychological assessing, evaluating, and diagnosing of clients, exploring different treatments and their effectiveness on diminishing brain functionality, and researching to advance our understanding of brain injury and brain-based conditions that impact cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Desirable attributes include clinical experience with acquired brain injury, management of interdisciplinary teams, a strong foundation of research skills, keen strategic focus. The successful individual is a natural leader who fosters an environment that promotes innovation and continuous improvement, effective, transparent communication with key constituents and stakeholders, and accountability for results. The Neuropsychologist works closely with the staff, Board Members, parents, donors, doctors, educators, therapists, media, and the brain injury community at-large.

Responsibilities

Work with staff in order to fulfill organization’s mission
Oversight of neuropsychological services to ensure quality of services and best practices
Assessing and evaluating the symptoms of brain injuries, brain-based disorders and ASD
Researching and experimenting to answer questions about the brain’s structure and functions
Conducting experiments on brain functionality
Devising experimental treatments for brain injuries and brain-based disorders
Carrying out tests of mental faculties and overseeing other tests and examinations
Assisting clients to reach their treatment goals
Performing evaluative duties and offering expert opinions in a forensic context at legal proceedings
Participating in conferences and seminars
Developing new evaluations, assessments and development of pharmaceutical drugs that could affect central nervous system functions
Formulate strategies and plans for the organization
Ensure adherence to organizational standards of service, policies, and procedures
Supervise and collaborate with employees
Ensure departments’ staffing has sufficient and qualified personnel
Monitor compliance with legal guidelines
Ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and quality standards

Qualifications

Doctorate level education (Ph.D. or Psy.D.)
Current New York State licensed psychologist
Previous clinical and supervisory experience with acquired brain injury population
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong public speaking ability
Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy
Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
Transparent and high integrity leadership
High level strategic thinking and planning
